Despite all the advances in technology, from tablets to smartphones and apps – it’s difficult to beat a good book. But, The Traveler’s Handbooks are no ordinary travel books.

While most publishers produce destination guides or offer up Bill Bryson-esque travel narratives, The Traveler’s Handbooks are a new breed of books focusing on travel styles – the various ways in which travelers choose to see the world.

The first five books in the series focus on a number of travel themes. They are, The Career Break Traveler’s Handbook, Jeff Jung; The Food Traveler’s Handbook, Jodi Ettenberg; The Luxury Traveler’s Handbook, Sarah & Terry Lee; The Solo Traveler’s Handbook, Janice Waugh and The Volunteer Traveler’s Handbook, Shannon O’Donnell.

“The response to the series has been outstanding,” said Janice Waugh, of new independent publishing house, Full Flight Press. Janice, author of The Solo Traveler’s Handbook, and the inspiration behind the series added: “The Traveler’s Handbooks deliver reliable information on the various ways people are choosing to see and experience the world.”

Unlike traditional travel guidebooks that focus on destinations and logistics, the Traveler’s Handbooks appeal to the traveler looking to see the world in their own favored style.

The books offer practical tips and advice, and inspire through first-hand stories on how people like to see the world, acknowledging that today how and why you travel is as important as where you go.

The new series will be launched with an event in New York City at 7pm on October 10 at the Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, 126 Crosby Street, New York, New York 10012.

A second launch will take place in London on November 1 at 6pm at the Kensington Hotel, 109-113 Queen’s Gate, London SW7 5LP.

The New York launch is being sponsored by G Adventures.

The Traveler’s Handbook series is available now in paperback ($16.99) and eBook ($9.99), through Amazon and iTunes. More titles will be added in 2013.

The Traveler’s Handbooks are a fresh look at how we travel today and how we will be traveling tomorrow.
